New Plymouth dropped their record down to 15-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marsing Huskies. The Pilgrims were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Huskies earlier this season, when they won 13-8.
Makiah Weideman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, New Plymouth saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrianna Hartzell, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. Another was Kadence Withers, who earned three runs and one stolen base.
As for Marsing, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.
On Marsing's side, Brooklyn Roadenbaugh was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Roadenbaugh has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Marsing let Taylor Callison and Dany Daugherty run wild. Callison went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Daugherty went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Daugherty has posted since back in March. Lily Thoene was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Plymouth will face off against Nampa Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Marsing, they will challenge Melba at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
