Sangamon Valley recap November 5, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Momence, who defeated 78th ranked Central, 13-6. Aaron Cantwell threw for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns during the win.
The Redskins moved up to 179 from 232 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Sangamon Valley. Momence was able to move up by beating the Comets 13-6.
Matt Fox's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Leanthony Reasnover chipped in 126 yards. Blake Lawerence helped Momence's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 80 yards.
J.R. Caspary provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Central lost to the Redskins. He completed 25 passes for 204 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 27 yards. Caspary's favorite target this week was Noah Frerichs, who caught 6 passes for 48 yards.
Cantwell put up the best numbers through the air as Momence beat Brian Spooner's team. Cantwell's favorite target this week was Zach Hamman, who caught 7 passes for 92 yards.
Momence's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Redskins feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cantwell has thrown for 2,064 yards and 25 touchdowns this season, while Hamman has 47 catches for 694 yards.
So far this year, Caspary has thrown for 1,914 yards with 29 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, St. Joseph-Ogden beat PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central 43-25. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
