Hawthorne Valley has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. After both having extra time off, the Hawthorne Valley Wildcats and the Hunter-Tannersville Wildcats will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Hawthorne Valley opened the new year with a less-than-successful 62-50 defeat to Loudonville Christian. While losing is never fun, Hawthorne Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 526th, while Loudonville Christian is ranked 259th).
Hawthorne Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Noah Vom Stein, who scored 20 points, and Oliver Towe who scored 17 points. Vom Stein is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Hunter-Tannersville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 66-18 loss at the hands of Charlotte Valley.
Hawthorne Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Hunter-Tannersville, they bumped their record down to 0-2 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
