It was a good run, but the Westminster Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Godinez Fundamental. If Westminster was looking for revenge after losing 59-58 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
When it comes to explaining why Westminster lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kam Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Tran, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Westminster's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9. As for Godinez Fundamental, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster will face off against the Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Godinez Fundamental, they will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Katella will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1056th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 374th).
