Summers County hasn't had much luck against Mount View recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bobcats will look to defend their home field against the Golden Knights at 6:00 p.m.
It was a proper cat-fight when Summers County duked it out with PikeView on Wednesday. The Bobcats lost 16-1 to the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Mount View gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over Bluefield. The game was the first time the Golden Knights have beaten the Beavers on their field since March 26, 2019.
Phoebe Dudgeon made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Dudgeon was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Kayleigh Rose was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Malayah Barnes, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.
Mount View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bluefield only managed five.
Mount View has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs this season. As for Summers County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
