Two dominant backs in Kip Brigham and Jedd Ramold are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wahoo Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mount Michael Benedictine Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wahoo knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Mount Michael Benedictine likes a good challenge.
Wahoo is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Douglas County West: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Warriors blew the Falcon out of the water with a 56-14 final score. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Falcon recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mount Michael Benedictine, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past Fort Calhoun with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 34-20. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their seven-point performance the contest before.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Ramold and Kaiden Rodriguez. Ramold had a great game and rushed for 165 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Rodriguez was balling out in the loss, rushing for 103 yards and a pair of TDs.
Mount Michael Benedictine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ramold. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 106 rushing yards.
Wahoo's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Mount Michael Benedictine, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Wahoo has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 334.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mount Michael Benedictine struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 257.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Wahoo against Mount Michael Benedictine in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 55-0 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
