There's no place like home for the Springport Spartans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 50-37 victory over Waldron on Wednesday. That 50-37 margin sets a new team best for Springport this season.
Springport found their leader in underclassman Dallas Higelmire, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Higelmire pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gibson Overweg, who scored four points along with 14 rebounds.
Springport pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Waldron, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Springport will head out on the road to face off against Homer at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. Waldron will be home for the holidays to greet Jackson Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jackson Christian is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
