The Skyview Storm will square off against the Columbia River Rapids at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Skyview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Skyview barely beat Prairie the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Storm were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Falcons on Monday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 3, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Malea Figueroa was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Audrey Jackson was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of T Lies, who went 4-for-6 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Skyview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .617. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prairie only posted an OBP of .241.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Columbia River, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Heritage 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rapids have posted since April 28, 2025.
Cassity Houk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits.
On the hitting side, Zaya Ehlers-Bakacs was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Emily Hull was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Skyview pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Columbia River, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Columbia River's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Skyview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. It's a different story for Columbia River, though, as they've only averaged .295. Will they be able to contain Skyview's hitters?
Skyview beat Columbia River 5-1 when the teams last played last Monday. Will the Storm repeat their success, or do the Rapids have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
