Given Houston Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Second Baptist is ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Second Baptist lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mike Olaly. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyllan Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Houston Christian's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Second Baptist, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Houston Christian will take on St. Francis Episcopal at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Second Baptist, they will be playing at home against St. John's at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
