The Highland Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. John Bosco Academy. Highland has not had much luck with St. John Bosco Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Highland saw an underclassman step up: Kylee Beck scored six points along with 13 rebounds and nine blocks. Beck hasn't dropped below two blocks for 12 straight games. Kindle Thomason was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Even though they lost, Highland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. This was only their 12th loss (out of 14 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Highland's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.6 points per game. As for St. John Bosco Academy, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.
Highland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. John Bosco Academy will head out on the road to face off against Kendrick at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kendrick presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. John Bosco Academy in Idaho (Kendrick is ranked 29th, while St. John Bosco Academy is ranked 111th).
