Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastside). They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Ridgeview Wolf Pack on Saturday. With that victory, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Luz Navarro made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bethanie Jimenez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Ynestroza, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Eastside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgeview only posted an OBP of .391.
Eastside's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-4-1. As for Ridgeview, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastside will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Quartz Hill at 3:15 p.m. on April 1. Quartz Hill will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Eastside surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ridgeview, they will venture away from home to take on North at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Ridgeview's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
