Weld Central is 0-5 against Eaton since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Weld Central Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eaton Reds at 7:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Weld Central: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Eaton has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
Weld Central struggled with assists on Thursday (Berthoud had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Weld Central was outmatched by Berthoud at home and fell 63-27.
Despite the loss, Weld Central had strong showings from Riley Phelps, who scored seven points along with 17 rebounds and three steals, and Jazlyn Ontiveros, who scored no points.
Meanwhile, Eaton can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Valley with a sharp 60-39 victory.
Tayla Wiedeman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points. Kara Sidwell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Weld Central has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Eaton, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Weld Central have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Eaton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Weld Central took a serious blow against Eaton in their previous matchup back in January, falling 73-24. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Weld Central was down 37-6.
