It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but De La Salle had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over the Lindblom Eagles. The Meteors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kaleb Navarro was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. De La Salle is 5-1 when Navarro posts two or more runs, but 8-21 otherwise.
In other batting news, Francisco Rodriguez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Oisin Curry, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
De La Salle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
De La Salle's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-22. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Lindblom, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 1-19-1 record this season.
As of now, neither De La Salle nor Lindblom have any future games scheduled.
