The Cairo Pilots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Egyptian 91-58 on the road. The victory was just what Cairo needed coming off of a 94-73 defeat in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cairo to victory, but perhaps none more so than McKenlee Pirtle, who scored 33 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Pirtle has scored at least a third of Cairo's points. Another player making a difference was Jeserick Pilgram, who scored 20 points.
Egyptian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brandon Plott, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Damarion Clark was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with two steals.
Cairo's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Egyptian, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-18.
Cairo will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Meridian at 1:00 p.m. on January 25th. Meridian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cairo in Illinois (Meridian is ranked 278th, while Cairo is ranked 617th). As for Egyptian, Egyptian and Century will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Century and Egyptian are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
