The Laurel Spartans suffered their biggest loss since December 14, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Parkdale on the road and fell 44-17. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Laurel in their matchups with Parkdale: they've now lost eight in a row.
Hannah Youn continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Parkdale, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Youn is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Nalani Miller was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Laurel dropped their record down to 3-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.6 points per game. As for Parkdale, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laurel will square off against DuVal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (DuVal is ranked 165th, while Laurel is ranked 177th). As for Parkdale, Parkdale and Northwestern will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Northwestern is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
