Basketball Recap: Mildred Comes Up Short

Mildred lost against Canton back in December of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mildred Eagles fell 63-56 to the Canton Eagles. Even though they lost, Mildred's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.4 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, Mildred still got an impressive performance from Brennan Moore, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. Ashton Moore was another key player, putting up 13 points along with six assists and three steals.

Mildred has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Canton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Coincidentally, Mildred and Canton will both be playing Hawkins the next time they take the court. Mildred will head out to face Hawkins at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, while Canton will play them later in the day, at 8:30 a.m.
