Faith Academy kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were outmatched by the Fairhope Pirates and fell 41-6. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.
Eli Quinley threw for 81 yards on 12 of 21 attempts. Kobe Hunt was his top target, picking up 57 receiving yards. On the ground, Theo Jackson rushed for 40 yards and one touchdown.
Bryon Martin was a one-man wrecking crew For Fairhope. as he picked up 111 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 50 yards and one score. Martin showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 50 yards. Another player making a difference was Trey Garner, who threw for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes.
The win got Fairhope back to even at 1-1.
Faith Academy and Fairhope will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Rams are set to square off against their familiar foe Citronelle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Fairhope will challenge rival Bryant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
