Baseball Recap: Chicago Christian Wins Going Away Against Peotone

Chicago Christian lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Peotone, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's contest. The Knights were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Blue Devils on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Rafe Slager and Chase Sytsma did most of the damage at the plate: Slager went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Sytsma went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Sytsma has posted since back in May of 2024. Josh Sedakis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Chicago Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Chicago Christian moved to 7-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Peotone, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Chicago Christian will venture away from home to challenge Andrew at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Thunderbolts' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Peotone, they will challenge Lisle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
