Basketball Recap: Elite Scholars Academy Comes Up Short

Elite Scholars Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Atlanta Classical Academy Cavaliers and fell 54-27. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royal Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-10 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Elite Scholars Academy had strong showings from Hannah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Gracie Mpanzu, who posted a point and six boards. That's the most rebounds Williams has posted since back in February of 2024.

Even though they lost, Elite Scholars Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Atlanta Classical Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sally Berry out in front who earned 20 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Berry has scored at least a third of Atlanta Classical Academy's points. Reece Perkins was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Elite Scholars Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Atlanta Classical Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8.

Elite Scholars Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-27 loss against Manchester on the 31st. As for Atlanta Classical Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-53 defeat against Bowdon on the 31st.
