Duchesne is 0-9-1 against St. Charles West since April of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Pioneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in Duchesne's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
Duchesne had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Hazelwood West on Monday. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 12-2 win. The Pioneers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Finnegan Ryan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Ryan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other pitching news, Rudy Weber looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Burle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jackson Nikodym, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, St. Charles West fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Fort Zumwalt East on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-4.
Duchesne's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Charles West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Duchesne couldn't quite get it done against St. Charles West when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Will the Pioneers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
