4A Conference 11 recap September 17, 2013
Wake Forest was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Hoggard. The Cougars came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 39 last week.
Millbrook moved up to 116 from 153 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Conference 11. The Wildcats climbed the ranks as a result of topping Northern 41-2.
Braxton Berrios was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 203 yards on 15 carries as Leesville Road bested Athens Drive. Mike DeHaney also contributed to the rushing game with 87 yards on the ground.
Evan Brabrand put up the best numbers through the air as Wakefield defeated Southeast Raleigh. He finished with a total of 21 completions for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brabrand's favorite target this week was Jake Butler, who caught 4 passes for 61 yards.
He was 21-40 with 0 interceptions.
Berrios was a passing and rushing force as the Pride topped the Jaguars. Berrios' favorite target this week was Richardson, who caught 5 passes for 79 yards.
Richardson was the best wideout in the league this week as Leesville Road defeated Athens Drive.
Leading 4A Conference 11 in both passing and receiving yards, the Wolverines' Brabrand and Butler have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Brabrand has thrown for 696 yards this season, while Butler has 14 catches for 207 yards. Bryce Love from Wake Forest leads the league in rushing with 580 yards.
Heritage and East Wake played the closest game in the league this week, with Heritage eventually emerging with a 41-35 victory.
