Baseball Recap: Louisburg Takes a Loss

Louisburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Tarboro on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tarboro Vikings by a score of 13-12. One positive for the Warriors, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Jake Layton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of John Lucas Anselmo, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Layton wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Louisburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Louisburg and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Tarboro, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tarboro beat Louisburg by a score of 10-2 on Thursday.
