Even though the Lower Brule Sioux scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, the Pine Ridge Thorpes still came out on top. Pine Ridge took down Lower Brule 73-55. Given Pine Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Lower Brule is ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pine Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Steele, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Rouillard, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Pine Ridge and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Lower Brule, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.

Lower Brule won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Red Cloud at 12:30 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Red Cloud focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
