The team relied heavily on Izzy Thurman, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. Demi Chaney was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Bradley-Bourbonnais faced Lincoln-Way West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Boilermakers lost 17-9 to the Warriors. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Boilermakers, who until this game were averaging 3.42 runs allowed.
Bristol Schriefer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Moutrey, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Homewood-Flossmoor is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Homewood-Flossmoor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Bradley-Bourbonnais struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
