The Sebastian River Sharks will venture away from home to take on the St. Edward's Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sebastian River will be strutting in after a victory while St. Edward's will be coming in after a loss.
Sebastian River took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Synergy Magnet K12 3-0.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Sebastian River took every set by at least 18 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-3, 25-4.

Sebastian River can attribute much of their success to Elizabeth Bryant, who had six aces and one assist, and Giavanna Primavera, who had four aces. Those six aces gave Bryant a new career-high.
They weren't the only good servers: Sebastian River was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 29 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, St. Edward's lost 3-0 to Brevard HEAT on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pirates have suffered against the Firehawks since September 22, 2022.
St. Edward's couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Brevard HEAT a tough time in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-20, 30-28.
Sebastian River's record is now 8-5. As for St. Edward's, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-9.
Sebastian River couldn't quite get it done against St. Edward's in their previous meeting back in August of 2023 as they fell 3-1. Can the Sharks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
