Even though Central of Clay County has not done well against Sylacauga recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Central of Clay County walked away with a 69-60 win over Sylacauga. That's two games straight that Central of Clay County has won by exactly nine points.
Jemison suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 67-40 loss at the hands of Sylacauga. While losing is never fun, Jemison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while Sylacauga is ranked 182nd).
Central of Clay County's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Jemison, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12.
Central of Clay County strolled past Jemison in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 45-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central of Clay County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
