The Cahokia Comanches's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to Jersey 64-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Cahokia lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being C'narri Griffin, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Taven Miller was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jersey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hunter Herkert, who scored 19 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Herkert scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Brunaugh, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds.
Cahokia's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Jersey, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.
Cahokia will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Jacksonville at 4:30 p.m. on January 19th. Jacksonville is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Jersey, they will square off against Alton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Jersey in Illinois (Alton is ranked 82nd, while Jersey is ranked 369th).
