Volleyball Recap: St. Pius X Wins Going Away Against St. Mary's

St. Pius X won the last time they faced St. Mary and things went their way on Monday too. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Dragons. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant St. Pius X was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-10, 25-9.

Their offense was headlined by Reece Archer and Ben Sumner, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Manny Verzola and his 14 assists. Lucas Powell controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

St. Pius X's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for St. Mary's, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Pius X will venture away from home to take on Clayton at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Mary's, they will head out to face off against Bayless at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
