It was a good run, but The Southlake Carroll Dragons unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They lost to Byron Nelson on the road by a decisive 34-17 margin. Southlake Carroll was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Byron Nelson apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the defeat, Southlake Carroll had strong showings from Graham Knowles, who rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown, and Jack Van Dorselaer, who picked up 62 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Southlake Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Byron Nelson, their win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Southlake Carroll will take on Fossil Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fossil Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 320th, while Southlake Carroll is ranked seventh). As for Byron Nelson, they will head out on the road to face off against V.R. Eaton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. V.R. Eaton is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
