The North Central Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Emmanuel Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. North Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 597th, while Emmanuel Christian is ranked 59th).
Even though North Central has not done well against Hicksville recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. North Central narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Hicksville 47-44. The win was a breath of fresh air for North Central as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Joe Burt was his usual excellent self, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. He also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Trenton Douglass, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Emmanuel Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Toledo Christian 73-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
North Central's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Emmanuel Christian, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2.
North Central couldn't quite finish off Emmanuel Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2018 and fell 43-40. Can North Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
