Granger is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Bountiful is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Granger Lancers will take on the Bountiful RedHawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Granger put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on October 11th. They blew past Hunter, posting a 56-0 win at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Granger just coasted through the last quarter.
Carson Sue'sue was his usual excellent self, throwing for 366 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Sue'sue is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Jordan Tuuao was another key contributor, gaining 118 total yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Hunter to a paltry 91 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Granger's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 14.5 times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with four picking up two apiece.
Meanwhile, Bountiful took their contest at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 51-7 win over Cedar Valley. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-7.
Emerson Geilman and Siaki Fekitoa were among the main playmakers for Bountiful as the former threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes and the latter rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Fekitoa was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Another player making a difference was Faletau Satuala, who picked up 69 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Granger has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Bountiful, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the pair have no problem gaining yardage. Granger has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 490.4 total yards per game. However, it's not like Bountiful struggles in that department as they've been averaging 352.5 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Granger beat Bountiful 28-21 in their previous matchup back in August of 2018. Does Granger have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bountiful turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
