Section 5 Finger Lakes - East recap Oct. 30, 2012
East Rochester-Gananda extended the longest winning streak in Section 5 Finger Lakes - East this week by beating Newark, 27-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Bombers.
East Rochester-Gananda made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,739 from 2,916. The improvement came about via a 27-0 victory over the Reds last week.
Wayne's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mike Hollenbeck threw for 34 and one touchdown and Alex Phillips had 45 yards receiving. On the ground Greg Martino chipped in 17 yards. Cody Herman helped Wayne's passing attack out by catching two balls for 39 yards.
Palmyra-Macedon's Stephen Morrell and Joshua Lennon have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Morrell has thrown for 1706 yards this season, while Lennon, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 28 catches for 723 yards. John Martisch from Penn Yan Academy leads the league in rushing with 894 yards.
