The Walnut Ridge Scots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Eastmoor Academy 91-56 at home. Walnut Ridge has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 22 points or more this season.
Walnut Ridge was led to victory by Marquis Lucas and Dominique Aekins. Lucas scored 23 points along with seven rebounds, while Aekins scored 29 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Aekins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Deon Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Eastmoor Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elijah Watkins, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was King Moody, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Walnut Ridge's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for Eastmoor Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Walnut Ridge will head out on the road to take on Briggs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Briggs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 583rd, while Walnut Ridge is ranked 200th). As for Eastmoor Academy, they will be playing at home against South at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
