While St. John won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-23, 25-18.
Emma Hutchins paced St. John's offense, picking up eight kills. Hutchins got some help from Breelyn Graham and her 13 assists. Sara Ducro and Alexa Jordan kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.
St. John's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Mathews, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
