Basketball Recap: Salida Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ellicott

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salida). They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 81-40 win over the Ellicott Thunderhawks. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Thunderhawks: they've now won seven in a row.

Several Thunderhawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dawson Pickett, who posted eight points. What's more, Pickett also posted a 67% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2023. Parris Erickson was another key player, putting up six points.

Salida's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.8 points. As for Ellicott, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Salida wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 85-57 loss against Banning Lewis Academy on the 4th. As for Ellicott, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-25 defeat against St. Mary's on the 30th.
