Baseball Game Preview: Crescent Tigers vs. Belton-Honea Path Bears

For the second straight game, Crescent will face off against Belton-Honea Path. The Tigers will square off against the Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Crescent took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Belton-Honea Path, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Bears on Wednesday.

For Belton-Honea Path's part, Aidan Jenkins was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Jenkins is becoming a predictor of the Bears' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Belton-Honea Path saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Bates, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Crescent's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Belton-Honea Path, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-8 record.
