If the Immokalee Indians were riding high off their 51-25 takedown of the Oasis Sharks last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Immokalee fell just short of North Fort Myers by a score of 31-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Immokalee has suffered yet this season.
It was another big night for Bianca Iten, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals for North Fort Myers. Iten has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Lily Erickson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals and four blocks.
Immokalee has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for North Fort Myers, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
Immokalee will head out on the road to square off against Southwest Florida Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Southwest Florida Christian is ranked 608th, while Immokalee is ranked 583rd). North Fort Myers won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Riverdale at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Riverdale is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
