It was a good run, but McGregor unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Floodwood Polar Bears. The Mercuries lost against the Polar Bears in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 81-44 score last time.

McGregor's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Floodwood, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McGregor will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Woods at 12:00 p.m. on December 30th. Floodwood and Barnum will round out the year against one another at at 1:30 p.m. on December 28th.
