The Glenvar Highlanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Salem. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Glenvar lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brody Dawyot. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. Dawyot has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last four times he's played. Reed Hutchison was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Glenvar's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. Alleghany presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Highlanders in Virginia (the Cougars are ranked 103rd, while the Highlanders are ranked 277th). As for Salem, they and the Cougars will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pulaski County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
