Basketball Recap: Slidell Skates Past Chilton with Ease

Slidell picked up another tournament win on Friday. They blew past the Chilton Pirates 39-12. The Greyhounds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.

When it comes to explaining why Chilton lost, don't look at Mariyah Suiters. Despite the final result, she posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. That was a full 50% of Chilton's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Novia Coleman, who had four points and six rebounds.

Slidell has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Chilton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Slidell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-32 win against Anderson-Shiro on the 27th. As for Chilton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-36 victory against Moody on the 31st.
