Baseball Recap: Copper Canyon Extends Winning Streak to Three

Copper Canyon extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 12-6-1 in the process. They put the hurt on the Glendale Cardinals with a sharp 14-4 victory. Considering the Aztecs have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Copper Canyon got a massive performance out of Jesus Vega, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave Vega a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emmanuel Manjarrez Beltran, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Copper Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in three consecutive contests.

As for Glendale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

On Glendale's side, Leonardo Raygoza was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Copper Canyon will head out to challenge Desert Edge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Scorpions have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Glendale, they will host Westview at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.78 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
