Basketball Recap: Ironwood Ridge Takes a Loss

After flying high against Rio Rico last Friday, Ironwood Ridge came back down to earth. The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks came up short against the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles on Thursday, falling 79-56.

Despite the loss, Ironwood Ridge still got an impressive performance from Carter Brown, who posted 17 points along with five boards and three steals. Brown's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Ray, who put up seven points.

Kyle Speed continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for ALA - Gilbert North, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 20 boards. Speed is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games he's played. Conner Morris was another key player, going 6 of 11 on his way to 10 points along with eight assists and five boards.

Ironwood Ridge dropped their record down to 3-5 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Ironwood Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-58 win against Marana on the 13th. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-57 victory against Paradise Honors on the 17th.
