The Gates Chili Spartans can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Vertus and snuck past 61-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Gates Chili found their leader in underclassman Joey Vigerzi, who scored 25 points. The match was Vigerzi's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Robinson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Gates Chili's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Vertus, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-8.
Gates Chili will face off against Brighton at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Brighton is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Vertus, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Rochester Academy.
