The Monument Valley Cougars's and the Red Mesa Redskins's contest on Tuesday was close at halftime, but the Monument Valley Cougars turned on the heat in the second half with 44 points. Everything went Monument Valley's way against Red Mesa as Monument Valley made off with a 71-49 win. The victory was just what Monument Valley needed coming off of a 57-27 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monument Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braxton Goodshield, who scored 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Goodshield has scored all season. Joshua Hicks was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Despite the loss, Red Mesa still got an impressive performance from Jonah Herbert, who scored 16 points.
Monument Valley's victory bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Red Mesa, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.
Monument Valley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Whitehorse at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Whitehorse is ranked 125th, while Monument Valley is ranked 137th). As for Red Mesa, they will head out on the road to square off against Fredonia at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Fredonia is on a nine-game streak of home losses, Red Mesa a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
