Severn School had won five straight games and Layla Epps did her part to make it six on Saturday. The Severn School Admirals walked away with a 45-34 win over the Old Mill Patriots thanks in part to Epps, who posted nine points in addition to five boards and five steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2023.
The team also got some help courtesy of Amyah Heyliger, who scored 14 points and six rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Old Mill lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jemirah Brown, who put up nine points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Layla Anderson, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 11 points and five rebounds.
Severn School's record now sits at 10-2. As for Old Mill, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.
Severn School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-7 victory against North County on the 13th. As for Old Mill, they are taking a road trip to challenge Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
