Floydada is 8-0 against Sudan since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Floydada Whirlwinds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sudan Hornets at 6:15 p.m. Hopefully Floydada is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Texas (they are ranked 404th, while Sudan is ranked 1004th).
Hale Center typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Floydada proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Owls with a 79-73 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Floydada to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sergio Valadez, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hagen Hinsley, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sudan was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 55-51 to New Deal.
Floydada is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. As for Sudan, they dropped their record down to 12-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Floydada against Sudan in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 80-43 victory. Does Floydada have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sudan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
