After a string of three wins, the Westside Seminoles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 65-47 bruising from Baldwin. While losing is never fun, Westside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Baldwin is ranked 48th).
When it comes to explaining why Westside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cam Rembert. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him.
Baldwin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Omari Woodard out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. Woodard continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Dennis, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Westside's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-5. As for Baldwin, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Westside will play host again and welcome Central, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Baldwin won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Washington County at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th.
