The Green Mountain Rams won the last time they faced the Evergreen Cougars, and things went their way on Saturday too. Green Mountain enjoyed a cozy 60-44 victory over the Cougars.
Green Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blake Weslin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Simon Lunsford, who scored 19 points.
When it comes to explaining why Evergreen lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rob Beldock. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Beldock has scored all season. Drew Yager was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Evergreen struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Green Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Evergreen, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Mountain will square off against the Demons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Golden focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Wednesday. As for Evergreen, they will head out on the road to take on the Lobos at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Conifer: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while the Cougars have snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
