After flying high against the Animo De La Hoya Boxers last Friday, the West Adams Panthers came back down to earth. West Adams fell 63-56 to Downtown Magnets on Monday. The game was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but West Adams was outscored by Downtown Magnets in the second.
Despite the loss, West Adams still got an impressive performance from Juan Sanchez, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Sanchez scored a full 28.6% of West Adams' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jayden Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 13 rebounds.
Downtown Magnets got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justin Huang out in front who scored 18 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Yuri Hernandez, who scored 15 points.
West Adams now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Downtown Magnets, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Adams will challenge Jordan at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Downtown Magnets, they will head out on the road to face off against Belmont at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
