Softball Recap: Adena Has No Trouble Against Huntington

Adena barely beat Huntington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Huntsmen on Wednesday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Marly Halcomb was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Guarnieri, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Adena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Adena is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Huntington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Adena will welcome Paint Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bearcats have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Huntington, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Zane Trace at 5:15 p.m.
